My chill mix

my definition of chill - vol. I
Summer is here and the time is right for... chillin' with my new mix. Decidedly non-club oriented. Some of these songs I've collected over the years and keep coming back to. Not to denigrate other downtempo mixes, but I can only listen to Kruder & Dorfmeister so many times before it's time for something different. So I made this mix for me, but I hope you enjoy it too.

The finished product is nearly 2 hours mixed with songs ranging from Brian Eno to LCD Soundsystem, Royksopp and Boards of Canada. It begins and ends without beats, but in between you will find some of my favorite downtempo and progressive tunes for those times when you're ready to kick back.

The Last Lecture

The Last Lecture The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch

My review

rating: 5 of 5 stars
This book falls under the self-help/inspirational category with an added twist. It was literally written by a college professor who came down with cancer and would be dying within the year.

It's a heartbreaking book in some regards. Knowing that he has a wife and kids and trying to make the most of out of his last year of life.

Much of what he says is common sense type of stuff, but the gravity of his situation and his philosophy in going about handling it puts this book a notch above others in my view.

I choked up or outright cried more than a few times while reading this. I will keep it on my shelf as a reminder for some time to come.
