Good news day

The world has way too much bad news in it. Iraq, Afghanistan, Taliban, Iran, North Korea, nukes, Al-Qaeda, 16 year old pages, etc. I could go on and on. I read this today on Scott Adam's Dilbert blog. I had no idea he lost his voice permanently 18 months ago. I've read about Scott being an optimist before, but reading his story on how he dealt with knowing he had lost his voice permanently made me smile. Beware, it's a good story and his readers leave their good news and stories in the comments section.

As regular readers of my blog know, I lost my voice about 18 months ago. Permanently. It’s something exotic called Spasmodic Dysphonia. Essentially a part of the brain that controls speech just shuts down in some people, usually after you strain your voice during a bout with allergies (in my case) or some other sort of normal laryngitis. It happens to people in my age bracket.

Cat devises devious plan to kill dog

Tragedy, heroism, and just a touch of humor. How else to describe an "accidental" fire started by a cat involving a candle, fake plants and an artificial leg.

ELKHART LAKE, Wisconsin (AP) -- After a disabled woman's cat started a house fire, her specially trained dog came to the rescue, then died trying unsuccessfully to rescue the cat.Jamie Hanson said her 13-year-old dog Jesse brought her artificial leg and a phone she used to call 911."She got me outside and then she heard the cat upstairs and she went up there to get the cat, and she wouldn't come back to me," Hanson, 49, said at a news conference Monday at Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center, where she was being treated for her injuries. She received third-degree arm burns in the fire Sunday night at her home in Rhine, south of Elkhart Lake. Both pets died.Hanson, who lost a leg in a car accident three years ago, said she was on the couch watching television when the cat ran over the back of the couch."And he jumped onto a table that had a candle on it and tipped it over and lighted the artificial plants on fire," she said.Hanson said she fell off the couch and was unable to get her artificial leg from the table, "so my dog got my leg for me and went and got the phone and brought the phone to me so I could call 911."

Water shooting fish on the prowl

I think this is just cool. Fish who shoot jets of water at their prey so they can eat them. That is just badass.
Archerfish are remarkable hunters that shoot down their above-water prey by blasting them with jets of water. Now research shows that these fish can precisely fine-tune the jets they spit depending on the size of prey and how well they are gripped to the surfaces they are sitting on.

Does this mean we can cut down foreplay?

Good news for men around the world. Apparently we can cut down that pesky foreplay activity and chicks dig porn as much as we do... or at least their genitals do. Read on.
Women may have a reputation for demanding lengthy foreplay, but they become sexually aroused as quickly as men, according to a new study that used thermal imaging to measure increased blood flow to genital regions.
While watching pornography, both sexes reach peak arousal within 10 minutes, on average, researchers report.
